Lager N Barrel Festival Headed To Gurugram This Month

Carling club glasses celebrates memories and friendship, marking the Oktoberfest

With the onset of Oktoberfest this year, Delhi NCR witnessed Gaana Lager N Barrel festival, North India’s first and one of its kind beer and music festivals. The third edition of the festival was co-presented by Carling Club Glasses and hosted at the Kingdom of Dreams, Gurugram on October 6 & 7, 2017 where it saw a footfall of more than 4000 people.

From performance by great lineup of music artists that included names like Mohammed Irfan, Divya Kumar, Shefali Alvares, Akhil Sachdeva, Parmish Verma, Millind Gaba, Gurnazar Live, DJ Sumit Sethi and more. Accompanied with scrumptious food and great brews, the event offered everything that would make the crowd tap their feet with fun and enjoyment.

The entire festival was inspired by art in every form. Another interesting takeaway for the crowd was that the festival has its customised official snapchat filters, a first of any festival in the country.

In all, the festival was an avant-garde celebration for all with a perfect weekend vibe that was soaked in the Oktoberfest vibe.

EXPOSED : Sehwag & His Twitter Tail

It was a Sunday evening when I was returning to Delhi from Coimbatore on Indigo flight 6E 396 after covering one of the finest motorsports events in the country.

I boarded the flight and for the first time, I was sitting in the first row. The boarding was completed until one special guest with his manager Amritanshu boards the flight and sat in the same row as mine. Virender Sehwag was in Coimbatore for an event of “Sadguru” called #RallyOfRivers.

The passengers were pleasantly surprised to be in the company of the dashing opener. Before the flight took off his manager was continuously on Twitter scrolling through Twitter trends.

The flight took off and I was just staring at him, I wanted to take a cool selfie with him but decided not to bug him as he looked so tired and sleepy, Sehwag asked for Veg Biryani since Indigo doesn’t serve biryani’s he had two bowls of Dal Chawal. I was noticing minor details such as the phone Sehwag uses and which one did his manager had. Sehwag had an iPhone 7 and his manager was carrying Motorola X.

We landed around 9:45 pm in Delhi. As soon as we landed they both had their phones switched on immediately like every other passenger on the plane. I thought I’d take a photo with him in the bus and stood next to him and his manager but that went for a toss when I saw his manager standing right next to me tweeting from Sehwag’s account about Rajyavardhan Rathore becoming the new sports minister of India, after the tweet his manager goes onto Sachin Tendulkar’s profile and informed Sehwag that he didn't tweet about it! I was shocked as Sehwag always claimed that he does each and every tweet on his own. I had a few words with his manager and left for home.

Amritanshu (Sehwag's manager) was an ex RJ at Fever 104 FM. Tweeting funny stuff seems very easy for him and he keeps Sehwag's twitter handle going.  

The next day when I reached office I again tried to know if it was just one of the tweet done by his manager or all of the tweets are done by him. “Tweetdeck” a popular Twitter tool which helps you schedule tweets also gives you the information from which device has the user tweeted from. Here is what I found all of the tweets are done from Android (Which his manager has) and not iPhone (Which Sehwag has)

House of Nomad - Taj Land's End - Review

It was a rainy Tuesday in Mumbai as I landed in the morning for a client meeting in Borivali. I was on my way to Bandra to try out some street food and later I was scheduled to have a quick review of the newly launched gastro bar - House of Nomad in Taj Land's End before my flight back home at 7.

House of Nomad is a gastro bar which offers a selection of skillfully designed cocktails, delectable global Tapas inspirations and wines from different regions of the world. Complete with a bohemian chic design, House of Nomad exudes an energetic Deco-inspired ambience with a beautiful central island bar. The décor is casual with a touch of elegant warmth – an island bar, gentle light, and a wine cellar housing over 300 bottles from all over the world that’s built into the wall. It was probably the best bar area, I've seen in the country.

I tried their most popular cocktail Chanel No. 6. (Ketel One Vodka, lychee puree, coconut syrup, homemade bitters, shaken and served straight up with molecular lipstick with a 2 sprays Channel No.6 perfume) The drink was so soothing and flavours just melt in your mouth as soon as you take a sip. A perfect partner to beat the Mumbai heat! 

Chef Anirudhya Lal Roy was so kind to give me time from his busy schedule and come up and talk to me more about the bar. The chef interestingly told me about the dishes and offered me the same. He also told that it's been hardly 3-4 weeks since it has opened and celebrities like SRK, Gauri Khan & Priyanka Chopra has already marked their presence. 

Gastro bar’s food menu, designed by Chef Anirudhya Roy, the menu consists of dishes like marinated olives, Burrata croutons, Hand carved ham from Parma, Buttermilk Chicken and Sriracha Chilli Sandwich, Truffle arugula and shaved parmesan flatbread and more. House of Nomad has a stunning island bar where Bar Consultant Andrew Pearson and Resident Mixologist Jenna work their magic to craft innovative cocktails. Among the favourites are the which leave a lingering and enticing flavour. Wine lovers are in for a treat as the bar houses a floor to ceiling wine wall stocked with wines handpicked from around the world.

I ordered Homemade Vegetable Chips, kicking marinara, chive sour cream and Stuffed Zucchini Cheese Fries dusted with parmesan. The vegetable chips are thinly cut and flavourful, with the tangy marinara and sour cream contrasting gently. Stuffed Zucchini Cheese Fries were a playful twist on the indulgently covered fries served in the light, fresh vegetable.

The best thing which fascinated me the most is the price tags of every item be it food or drinks. Every dish or drink which I tried was less than 500 bucks. 500 bucks!! Yes, the prices are perfectly tagged to every item besides the fact that it's located in one of the most talked about hotels in the country. Here is price list of the dishes I tried. 

1. Homemade vegetable chips, kicking marinara, chive sour cream - Rs 250 
2. Stuffed zucchini cheese fries dusted with parmesan - Rs.325 
3. Truffle, arugula and shaved parmesan flatbread- Rs.495 
4. Bandra sheermal rolls, mint chutney (bhatti da paneer) - Rs.300 
5. Goat's cheese, pickled beets, orange, pear and arugula - Rs.250 
6. Sangria trifle - Rs.375

The bar showcases different genres of music from progressive to the house and high energy. An ideal setting for after-work drinks, informal meetings and relaxed gatherings, House of Nomad is a perfect setting to let your hair down and celebrate life.
