Yuvraj Singh! My fan story

Everyone  knows about my craziness for Yuvraj Singh.
But do you know the story behind how I became his fan? How I met him? How am I so close to him?

It all started way back in 2005 when entire country saw the mighty big sixes of MS Dhoni against Pakistan but I became a fan of Yuvraj Singh because of his splendid performance by delivering 3 tons in 5 ODI's and was awarded as Man of the series.
This continued for next two series as well against England & South Africa and he made a record by  taking a hat-trick  of  Man of the series awards.

19th September 2007

A day every Indian remembers.
Yes, I am talking about Yuvraj Singh taking Stuart Broad on fire and hitting six sixes in an over.
I still remember I had a Maths exam next day, being so poor in Maths I didn't study anything and slept around 9'o clock. I again woke up at 10:30 to drink water, by the time everyone had slept. I thought of checking the score of the ongoing match between India and England. I switched on the TV and thought I will see just one over and then go back to sleep.
And!! That one over I decided to watch was the one of Stuart Broad.
My craziness for Yuvi was growing by every passing match and I was turning a big fan of elegant off-drives and mighty sixes.

Twitter
Seeing every day on news channels what Yuvraj Singh has tweeted or what other celebrities have tweeted made me create an account on Twitter.
I joined Twitter on 3rd of December, 2010 and just 4 hours later I had my first follower.

You know whom?
The person for whom I joined Twitter  known as @yuvsingh09 those days Yuvraj Singh was my 1st follower on twitter. I just sent him a simple tweet saying : "I don't have any followers yet how awesome will it be if you are my 1st follower"

Getting a follow back from your idol is the biggest thing that can happen on Twitter. Yuvi later started to know me and we used to have conversations. I always updated him with the timings of Manchester United matches and I was amongst the stand out Yuvraj Singh fans on social media. Here are a few replies he has done to me till date.

I always tried to sneak a chance to meet him, while trying I came across few of his friends who were his neighbours, close friends & his manager. I used to have casual talks with them on Facebook & Twitter. I decided to create a fan club for him by the name @Yuvination where all fans can connect with each other. Yuvi noticed that as well and followed it!

Winning World Cup for India & Sachin can be marked as the best thing in Yuvi's life but good things have to end one day and he was diagnosed with Cancer and went to the USA for his treatment meanwhile in India me and few other friends used to show the support and love towards him to keep him motivated through our fan clubs. When he successfully defeated cancer and boarded his flight back home, I came to know when he will be touching down in Delhi through one of his friends and decided to go to the Airport! I met all of his friends who were there to receive him. That was the first time I saw Yuvraj Singh in real. I gave 15-16 interviews to Media showing my support and I was captured by the biggest Photo website Getty Images.

Meeting his friends completely changed my life and one of them later suggested my name for a sports company. I managed sports icons like Unmukt Chand, Mithali Raj, Manan Vohra and few others. It didn't work out and I left the company after 3 months.
Meanwhile, I kept trying to meet Yuvi and one of my friend (Devanshi Madhiyar) told me about a Twitter contest. The winners of the contest would get a chance to meet Yuvraj Singh. I won it and was on top of the world to meet in person with my hero.

4th February 2013

A freezing and rainy day in Delhi and I was suffering from fever but that was not enough to stop me from meeting Yuvraj Singh. The event was supposed to happen at Crowne Plaza in Gurgaon which was about 40kms away from my place. My mom didn't want me to go in that rainy weather but I still went. Yuvraj Singh was there for a launch of a new brand (GoodChime) which was getting collaborated with his cricket academy. Before Yuvraj came to the venue I met Aneesh Gautam (Yuvi's friend) We had a friendly conversation. Yuvraj entered the hall and all the winners of the contest were awarded a personally signed mug. Later Yuvraj got busy giving interviews.

Aneesh asked me : "Do you have a picture with Yuvi?"
Me: "No"
And he said "Chal mein leta hoon"
He introduced me to Yuvi saying "He's Abhishek" I shook hand with Yuvi and told myself that I manage @Yuvination.
Yuvi : "Accha toh tu hai Abhishek, Phele kyon nahi milla? Mein jabse dehk raha hoon tu yahi ghoom raha tha.
Me : *Speechless*
Yuvi : You alone handle entire Nation? Naam toh accha rahka hua hai.
Me : Yes.

I again met him in Roshanara cricket club in Dec'13. He was there to practise with Punjab Ranji team, I stood on the boundary line and waited for him to finish off practise. He along with Bhajji were coming towards the boundary line I went to Yuvi and asked If he remembers me? He replied : "Oye, Yuvination tu yahan bhi aagaya" and He left me speechless again, then I asked him for a picture and few autographs.

From seeing him at the airport to visiting his house last month, I have travelled a long from where I started my journey. And surely that's not the end of my fairytale fan story there's a lot  to be watch out for!

The making of ABHIYA!

It all started in 2013!!

7th August 2013.

Godrej Cinthol came up with a new initiative those days on Twitter. Where 5 lucky people could be the lucky winners of #ChallengeVirat. I was not lucky to be one of them. The event was taking place in Talkatora stadium, Delhi. Delhiites had a chance to witness the massive event #ChallengeVirat. I gave it a go and won it!

7th August 2013 is that date #ChallengeVirat event was scheduled to happen. I bunked my college and went to witness it with my 2 friends with no idea that I am going there for the start of my fairytale love story.

We were given the #ChallengeVirat Tshirts and was directed to go and have a seat at the 1st floor of Talkatora stadium.
Virat Kohli was 2 hours late from the scheduled time. I and my friends were just sitting and doing our time pass.
Of course, there were so many beautiful girls around! But my eyes seized on the girl sitting on my right. I couldn't do anything as she was with her family. Staring at her I never knew that a few months later she would be my life.

We went downstairs then to seek a chance to meet Virat Kohli. And met few friends!
I did manage to meet Virat Kohli at the end of the event and Went back home!

Talkatora Stadium

A few days later..
As usual I was checking my regular updates on facebook. The same girl who I was staring at the event had posted few event pictures on a group of Virat Kohli and one of my friends liked it so it appeared on my timeline.

Ahh! Enough of saying that girl. Her name is Riya Gandhi! (Naam toh sunna hi hoga?) ;)

I was bored. I had nothing to do so I was checking random profiles and opened her profile as well and realized that this is the same girl I saw at the event. Within a second I sent her a friend request! She accepted it after few hours and we started chatting. I told her that I was in the event as well sitting on your left.
We started chatting on random things about the event and stuff!
The friendship and bond between us started building up and the talks of facebook were shifted to WhatsApp.
Same talks continued on WhatsApp as well, One day I decided to express my love for her. I was tensed and eager to know what would be her reaction and also a fear of losing her. I was so straight forward and without twisting the things. I said that I love her! And just like every other girl, she said "What?" but later amused me by saying let's give it some time and Know each other then I will decide and tell you my response whenever we meet.
I was like "Okay"
Few months later I convinced her to meet. She was coming to shop with her parents in Select City Walk and as usual I bunked my college and went to meet her.

17th December 2013

I can any day mark this as the best day of my life.
A day which holds the most important impact in my life.
Yess!

The day I met her.
The day she accepted me!
This is the exact place where we saw each other.

This is the exact place where we saw each other for the 1st time. Shy faces with an excitement of what's going to happen next. Walking onto the 3rd floor of SCW. Finding some good place to sit! I asked her.
"You were supposed to give me your answer"
She replied : "Haaan, Mera answer haaan hai"

*Buraaaaaaahhhh* The voice came inside from me! :P

We decide to sit in an open food court! Did some casual talking. I was shy. Not speaking anything and She was trying to open me up. She left after 15-20 minutes as her parents were waiting for her downstairs.  Everything had changed in these 15 minutes we spent together. I had my life partner. From that day till now. It's been 1 year and 7 months of ABHIYA.

Here are few pictures of our beautiful love story :)

Ambrosia Bliss Review

The name "Bliss" truly defines the cafe, Ambrosia Bliss!

Situated in the heart of the capital, Ambrosia is just 5 mins away from Rajeev Chowk metro station.

I was called up to review their food, and I was excited from that very moment to review one of the best cafes in Connaught place.

Entrance

Ambrosia is particularly known for its tasteful interiors and lighting. The restaurant has fine dining seating, private seating, outdoor seating and a dimly but beautifully lit lounge.

Decor and ambience - There is segregation between the dining & lounge so depending on ur mood you can choose between the two. Both have glittery shiny decoration. The superlative bar makes it, even more, better!

That's what I am talking about! Perfect for a little date? Eh!

The manager was kind and so friendly, greeted me so well from the very start!
Let's do the talking with food now! Oh, The perks of being a food blogger. ;)

First up!
The waitress served me with their signature cocktail which goes by the name of Stardust! It's made up of Infused Vodka, Fresh pineapple and Star Anse! The best part of the drink was you could actually taste the flavours of Vodka & Pineapple separately. It was not too messed up with flavours. The sourness of the Pineapple was too good for the taste buds.

Grapefruit with Crunchy veggie salad

I was then served with the "Grapefruit with Crunchy veggie salad" DAMN! I can't tell you how delicious was it. It had Grapefruit, Yellow, Green & Red Bleepers, Spinach, Tomatoes, Lettuce and Onions toasted up in green mint chutney and some salad dressing.
The mint chutney was coming up so well with all the crunchy veggies, the sweet and sour flavour of chutney just completely made the best salad I have ever had till date!

Starters.

I was served with 4 type of Kebabs in the starter. This was the first time I was testing a Kebab, being a vegetarian Kebab always meant non-veg to me. But the waitress suggested me to order this 4 different kinds of Veg Kebabs.

Starting from the left.

1. Mushroom Gaulti Kebab with Kesri Puff
2. Harabhara Kebab
3. Dahi Ki Kebab
4. Paktuni Paneer Tikka

Mushroom Gaulti Kebab with Kesri Puff was a major disappointment the upper part was so moist and tender but I admired the down part would be crunchy which would balance. The down part which is a puff was so hard to break with a fork. The idea behind this is not bad but It should be maintained evenly that it breaks from a fork! Later the chef and manager explained to me that its made in the same way so that we can joy the crunch and moist kebab at the same time.

Harabhara Kebab was the standout of them all, Nice tender and juicy from inside and evenly crunchy from the outside with a coat of breadcrumbs.

Dahi Ki Kebab was good too, Crunchy from outside layer with a hard thick curd from inside and the tastes of spices was coming up well together.

Paktuni Paneer Tikka was kind-off usual panner tikka, but in Paktuni paneer tikka. The panner was in different layers filled up with different spices inside it! Tastes so good with green chutney and Onions.

Tamarind  Tofu Cups & Philadelphia Cheese roll.

Philadelphia Cheese Roll with Tamarind Tofu Cups was next on the list! And one of the best dish in Ambrosia. A must have the dish, If you ever visit Ambrosia! The Philadelphia cheese is amongst the most expensive cheese in the world. It's made up of 3 cream kinds of cheese.  The cheese was tender and the roll was crispy! Tasted so good. It's made by mixing the cheese with carrot, scallions and chilli.

The Tamarind tofu cups were something you can have daily in your evening snack. The cups were so thin and crispy filled up with fried peanuts and fried small pieces of paneer topped up with Tamarind paste on the top. Yummm!!

Tibetan Veg Momo, Spinach and Waterchestnut & Crunchy Five Dumplings.

Crunchy five was first on my plate. It's had 5 veggies which add the crunch to the bite and the base of dumpling as thin as usual! Everything tastes fantastically well with the 4 spicy dips.

Tibetan Veg Momo is like a usual Momo we get anywhere on streets.

Spinach and Waterchestnut dumpling was bitten on a weaker side. Lacking of flavours should have been spicier what signifies a dumpling.
Overall a good Tibetan dish!

Head chef at Ambrosia Bliss.

Just when I was busy tasting the dumplings. The head chef of Ambrosia Bliss came to greet me and wanted to know my view on the food he's making from years in the cafe. It was indeed a nice gesture of him! He asked me about the food, What I do and all casual things.

He asked : Where are you from?

Me : Haryana
He : *Shocked*
Me : What happened?
He : Actually, you speak pretty good English. people of Haryana are mostly known
for it, I have few friends from Haryana who speak straight forward desi language. :P

Later I asked him to suggest one special dish and a dessert which he thinks he's perfect at! He suggested me Hakka Noodles. and said me not to worry about the dessert he said. It will be a chef special! He left as he would go and prepare the noodles for me. Within few minutes I was having the Hakka Noodles on my table!

Hakka Noodles.

By looks it might seem as ordinary Hakka noodles you get anywhere, but lets not judge it by its looks. Trust me! It tastes bloody awesome. Not too spicy nor too insipid! Perfectly balanced noodles. Perfect with garlic and red chilli paste.

Arrabiata Pasta

The Pasta was excellent as well with good amount of cheese and veggies. The best part of the pasta which no one noticed is the garlic bread on the side. Coated in a good amount of butter and garlic, nice crunchy from outside and equally moist from inside. I feel the pieces of baroquely could have been a little smaller for better taste. Overall another good dish!

Chocobar!

Chocobar is amongst the signature cocktails of the cafe, It tastes like a typical chocolate shake. But the taste of infuse vodka takes you out of your childhood days. :P

Sticky toffee pudding & Bailey's chocolate tiramisu.

Yess! That's the Chef's special dessert he promised me. The Sticky toffee pudding was fantastic! The pudding was moist and fluffy and the hot caramel made it completely balanced! Bailey's chocolate tiramisu is made by combining 3-4 different kind of cheese and red wine. It's said to be one of the most expensive pastries in India.

"In short, My experience at Ambrosia was extraordinary. If someone wakes me up at 2 am at night and asks me to let's go and have food! Ambrosia would be the first that would come to my mind! If you are ever in Connaught place you must visit this cafe. Fantastic atmosphere and decorations &  even more delicious food and lovely people"
